I know you have new tracks coming out on your Regenerate and Degenerate labels. Could you tell me about them?
I’ll be releasing my first vocal original in some time, featuring Cari called Anywhere – She did a really nice job with handling the vocal side to this and even did a latin section towards the end, quite hauntingly beautiful. That release will also be the first of the new look of Regenerate. New label design, logo, all that good stuff. So I am really excited for that particular release on a few levels. Then 3 weeks later, my new Degenerate single In the Dark as my new “do whatever the fuck I want to do” alias abSTrakt will be coming out. This one will surprise people. It gives an absolute punishing pounding.
What was the inspiration behind these tracks?
The inspiration came from just wanting to not do what everyone else is doing. Since the start of this year, and I actually can’t fully understand why, my productivity and motivation is through the roof. I have just finished my 6th tune today since January 1st, with a whole bunch more to do before I start touring again. I think productivity also fuels more inspiration as a sort of chain reaction, and this is so nice to enjoy.
Do you have any big events, Twitch streams, tours, or announcements you can share?
In March I’ll be headed back to Johannesberg, South Africa, Montreal, Canada, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, and Poland for some great shows. After that I’m not even sure I have to check with my agency. I’m told promoters are late bloomers this year but that is fine.
Is there any one thing that keeps you going in the trance scene?
Not really. There is so much negativity here that I am really hanging on by a thread. The ideals of the music being what it once was does keep me going. But maybe there are other reasons. In fact now that I type this out, no, I just like making sounds to dance to. I really don’t give two fucks if it’s trance or not, I’m done being stuck in one place. It’s time for you all to know the real me. Get ready for 2023.
Do you have a favorite venue you enjoy DJing at?
My favorite venue, well no I don’t have a favorite venue but my favorite CITY to play in is Buenos Aires. The people are just electric and truly religious about music – it’s so touching and humbling. Northern Ireland is rapidly becoming something like that though they seem to like a more obvious in your face style, which is also just fine, hey it’s the vibe that is the most important and they nail it.
Make sure to check out Sean Tyas’ upcoming new music and catch him live in a city near you.
