Friday Day 2 of Luminosity was certainly a vastly different experience than Day 1: the sun was out in full force, the Sunset stage near the front entrance was open (and generally packed), and given the impending weekend ahead, a heavier crowd with less clothing to stave off the heat for another 11 hours of amazing Trance. After my mind battling my body to get back into Beachclub Bernie’s I made it into the festival around 1500 but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the main stage stream where Alex Wright kicked things off with a progressive set.
Once inside the venue, it was a quick dash to the sunscreen station to get ahead of any chance of getting roasted, however, most of the day was spent hopping between canopies, knowing we still have 2 more days of the festival to go and not spent with crispy skin. Turns out that by 1700 the one station by the main entrance was already depleted (godspeed to those with no sunscreen).
After kicking off our afternoon at the Beachclub Bernie’s stage enjoying a favourite and friend Adam Ellis (dropping some of his eclectic classics) it was time for some fries with mayo (a European classic) and a beer. Still willing the mind and body into gear once we ran into friends and kicked the social battery into gear. Catching some of the Copacabana for the Classics while we chowed down was the legends Tilt & Red Jerry before making our way back up the hill to the at-capacity Sunset stage where Alessandra Roncone had the crowd energized. My one bit of feedback for the stage was the barricades and the lack of sun cover made it difficult to spend an extended amount of time here given the clear skies and the June sun raining down.
A quick stop was made at mainstage to get a peek at Ferry dropping some progressive tunes as part of his extended “What the F” set before navigating back to the Beachclub Bernie’s stage being the play for day 2 with favourites like Ben Gold, Sneijder, and Jordan Suckley. Splitting time was a must as we bounced between the 4 stages, catching some of my favourite twins from Spain Yoshi & Razner, Madwave, Key4050, and the legendary Scot Project.
Some other notable mentions were connecting with some of the artists at the VIP meet and greet from the likes of The Blizzard, Sied van Reel, Leon Bolier, Thrillseekers, Xijaro & Pitch, Lange, Bixx and more. It’s always amazing coming to Luminosity and seeing the artists engaging and enjoying the music alongside the fans, combined with the unforgettable setting on the beach closed out Day 2 on a high note.
